Thuper Thursday Links

Hey everyone! July is in full swing here in Texas, with temperatures soaring into the hundreds. This has been a short week, thanks to the July 4th holiday, and Friday is right around the corner. Even better, payday is zooming nearer as we approach the middle of the month.

Speaking of payday, anyone else interested in personal finance? My site isn't geared specifically towards personal finance, but it's something I like to discuss once in awhile.

Cracked.com has yet another funny article, this time it's about Star Wars characters who dropped the ball. A great read.

Wow, only 2 links today. What a slow week. If I see anything else I like I'll be sure to let you know. In the meantime, I hope you'll all keep entertaining me with your fan mail.

Super Saturday Links

It's another Saturday, and more importantly, the 4th is nearly here. Make sure you're safe with your fireworks, and that you follow all of the applicable laws regarding the use of fireworks and explosives. Remember, it's all fun and games until someone loses a finger.

Today has been a pretty slow day, but here are some neat links I've found:

The always funny cracked.com has a fun article about some creatures who get a bad rap. Good article, but I still don't like cockroaches.

Here's a The Consumerist story about bacon. Yum!

If you're looking for a good natural health forum, check out NatMedTalk. The discussions over there are pretty interesting, and you might find some pretty interesting information.

That's all for today, but keep a look out for next week's story about a business idea I've been considering.

My Goals

Hey everyone! I know I talk a lot about money. Making money, saving money, investing money, not spending money, and stuff like that. But I also have regular people goals that don't involve being a miserly penny-pincher. For example, I'd like to go to school someday and further my education. I'd also like to buy a house and settle down and start a family. Granted, how I plan to achieve those things is besides the point, but I want to achieve them nonetheless.

Now, I've been reading a book lately (can't remember which one, I've actually been reading a lot), and it says that I shouldn't just have goals, I should right them down and share them with as many people as I can. I guess so that I'm accountable if I don't actually follow through. Sounds pretty effective to me. So here they are, my goals:

Short-term goals:
-Improve my oral hygiene
Now, I'm sure we've all been told we need to "floss more often" by our dentists, so this one should be pretty clear. I want to have all (or at least a majority) of my teeth when I'm older, so I should take good care of them all now
-Start working out on my own at least 3 times a week
This one has always been a tough one, since I hate exercise with a burning passion.

Mid-term goals:
-Increase monthly income by $1000
This one will definitely take some work. Ideally I'd like to expand my blog a bit and maybe find a part-timeish job. Also, I'd like to start seeing results from my investments.
-Buy real estate
This sort of goes hand-in-hand with my other mid-term goal. With a decent property, I'd like to rent it out and profit a bit from it.

Long-term goal:
-Retire at age 35 with $1 mil in the bank
This one is kind of self-explanatory, although I have allowed myself to wait until age 35 and 364 days to do it, so it's kind of misleading. I want to be retired by my 36th birthday.

So there are my goals, granted, it's a rough draft and I could certainly use some additional long-term goals. I think it's pretty good for now though, and I'll try to keep everyone updated monthly as I proceed with all of them.

Happy Saturday!

It's another Saturday, and it's time for another blog post. This weekend I've resolved not to do anything off-post, mostly because I'm still trying to save as much money as possible. Just wait until the end of the month and provide a summary of my finances (something I want to start doing every month). In other news, I have run out of razors, and have to buy some more along with new running shoes. I've been running in these ones for over a year now, and my feet are starting to feel it. The soles are nearly completely gone.

This week I have nothing in particular planned, other than taking the opportunity Monday will afford me to invest some more money. There's really nothing to like about a Monday payday, other than keeping my weekend spending in check (which I don't do much of anyways). For those of you more interested in my life, shoot me an e-mail and I'll get back to you, it's not like I do anything else all day.

The Lazy Sunday Post

Greetings and salutations friends! It's been quite awhile but I'm here to make another post. This weekend was an interested one. Yesterday me and my squad went to the lake and rented a ski boat. I gave wake boarding and water skiing a shot, but couldn't manage to stand up. I also managed to get pretty sun burned and injure my right foot, but I hope to be better by tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow, I have a PT test tomorrow, so everyone wish me luck. In other news here are some links to get you going for the week ahead:

Cracked.com has an article about 6 Real Islands Way More Terrifying Than The One On 'Lost'. Now I've never actually watched Lost, but I can't imagine the island is worse than any of the ones in this article.

For those of you interested in expanding your vocabulary, give the vocabulary builder from Vocaboly a shot. It's been recognized as the best in it's field for years.

If you still haven't checked out Wisebread a look, you really ought to, they've got great tips for "Living large on a small budget," and it was the first website to really get me in to personal finance.

Have a great week everybody!

TGIT?

Hey everyone, it's Thursday! Not only that, but tomorrow is pay day! Woohoo! Speaking of payday, Hits4Pay has been sending me a lot more e-mails lately, and they certainly add up. Why don't you check it out? Here's another link for y'all (I can say that now because I'm in Texas).

Wow, that's a big one, looks like I'm really selling out. (In reality I don't get paid to put these up unfortunately, that would kick ass.)

In other news, I'll be starting class next Wednesday, so I might not post very much for the next several weeks. You know how training is. Or, maybe, you don't. Point is, I have to do it, so that's that. By the way, if you've found your way here by way of one of my handy business cards (or even if you didn't), why not share my site with a friend? Goodness knows I won't ever get out of this backwater town (by which I mean my little blog) unless more people know about me.

I Have Arrived!

I made it to Texas yesterday. Surprisingly my privileges remain relatively unchanged, however the general attitude here seems a little less lax than the one in California. If you're in CA and reading this, shoot me an e-mail and I'll fill you in on the details.
